The Rotary Club Milwaukee Amigos After Hours welcomed Celia Jackson as our featured speaker for an insightful program examining the origins and purpose of Black History Month.

Celia Jackson is a retired attorney, former Wisconsin Cabinet Secretary, educator, and community leader with a lifelong commitment to social justice, restorative practices, and intercultural education. Her career spans public service, higher education, ministry, and nonprofit leadership, offering a unique perspective that bridges history, policy, and lived experience.

This presentation explored how Black History Month was established, the historical context behind it, and its continued relevance in fostering understanding, equity, and dialogue in our communities today.
